New Year: UPU Worldwide Calls for Unity, Peace, And Progress Among Urhobo Nation
The Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide has extended a heartfelt New Year goodwill message to all sons and daughters of the Urhobo Nation across the globe, calling for renewed unity, peace, discipline, and collective development in the year ahead.
In a statement issued on behalf of the leadership of the Union, the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade (Dr.) Prince Kehinde Oghenevwairhe Taiga, reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of UPU Worldwide to the unity, dignity, and overall advancement of the Urhobo people under the purposeful leadership of the President General, Olorogun (Barr.) Ese Gam Owe.
The Union reflected on the outgoing year as one marked by challenges that tested the resolve of the Urhobo Nation but ultimately strengthened its collective identity through resilience, unity, and shared purpose.
“As we enter the New Year, UPU Worldwide speaks with one clear voice: the Urhobo Nation must remain united, peaceful, and forward-looking,” the statement read. “We must rise above division, reject lawlessness, and work collectively for the security, development, and prosperity of Urhobo land.”
The leadership emphasized that the New Year calls for discipline, responsibility, and a renewed commitment to the core values that bind the Urhobo people together. It assured that UPU Worldwide would continue to engage relevant authorities and stakeholders to defend the interests of the Urhobo Nation and ensure its voice is heard, respected, and protected at all levels.
The Union further called on all segments of the Urhobo society youths (Ighele), women (Eghweya), elders (Ekpako), professionals, and traditional institutions to align with the shared vision of peace, progress, and purposeful development.
Special emphasis was placed on the role of youths, ably led by the National Youth President, Comrade Blessed Oghenero Ughere, urging them to channel their energy into productive, lawful, and nation-building pursuits. Elders were also encouraged to continue providing guidance and stability, while all Urhobo sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora were called upon to remain worthy ambassadors of Urhobo heritage, culture, and honour.
The statement concluded with prayers for renewed strength, good health, peace, and prosperity for every Urhobo household in the New Year, expressing optimism that the year will mark a defining chapter of unity, pride, and sustainable progress for the Urhobo Nation.
“Long live the Urhobo Nation.
Long live the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide.”
Signed:
